2 Birthdays and Photo Cupcakes

In my last post you saw our new puppy Lucy who was Mackenzie's early birthday present. Since Mackenzie got a bassett hound for her birthday I wanted to do some kind of puppy cake. Seriously, we didn't even have a real party but I just have this thing with trying to surprise my kids with their cakes. Soooo, while trying to figure out how to make a cake in the shape of a bassett hound I got an easier idea! At first I was going to try and put a hat on Lucy and take her picture but the hat would have swallowed her head so I found it easier to draw a triangle and some dots in photoshop to make a fake hat. I took the photo, cut it out and assembled cupcake picks. If you want to make them yourself the instructions are below.

12 wallet photos (if making 12 cupcakes )
construction paper
hot glue gun
glue sticks

First cut desired color of construction paper into, roughly 2 1/2 x 3 inch rectangles. Then, trim the bottom edge of your photos. Now you're going to sandwich a toothpick between the construction paper and the photo with hot glue, making sure the bottom edges line up. Once the hot glue dries trim around the photo. And botta boom, botta have a photo cupcake pick!! You could have cut the photo, traced it onto the photo and cut but then you have to cut twice as much.

Mackenzie was born on March 11th which is also Chance's birthday! I am so thankful for both of them. I don't know what I would do without my silly, hugable, persistent Mackenzie. She was my hardest baby, the one who didn't want me to put her down and would scream for 3 hours straight if I let her. I must say, though, that she doesn't give up when her mind is set on something and I pray she will follow Christ with that same persistence. Nothing would give me more joy.

I'm also so grateful to have my wonderful husband. He's a hard worker who gives any job he has one hundred and ten percent. He's faithfully provided for our family, working full time and taking on side jobs to make ends meet, he gives me way more affirmation than I deserve, and is a loving and faithful dad to our kids. Oh, and he loves the Lord like crazy :- ) Happy Birthday, Chance!

Meet Lucy!!

Yay! We finally got our bassett hound! Chance does not like dogs and we had a bad experience with a super hyper golden retriever when we first got married so he wanted to wait until the kids could take care of the dog to get another. Sooooo, 9 years later we have a puppy and she's been really good so far. This was kind of an early birthday present for Mackenzie...or just a good excuse to get her! Of course, the kids love her and she's going to be spoiled rotten. We had to have a drawing to decide what we would name her since all the kids had a name for her. Samuel won the drawing and "Lucy" won. Brianna wanted to name her Cupcake, Alexis wanted to name her Cassey, and Chance wanted to name her that he could say "here Kitty, Kitty", and the dog would come.

Samuel says, "she always looks so sad".

Here's a couple of pictures from a family shoot I did. We had beautiful weather and a beautiful family! And, I really like how mom pulled their outfits together!

Next, was a really great shoot with Ruthie. It was an overcast day, which is my favorite, and Ruthie was in a really good mood. I am in love with her whole gallery. Also, FYI about 6 months, sitting up and just before baby can crawl, is one of the most perfect times to get photos taken! They sit up alone so baby can be put most anywhere and if they don't crawl yet there's plenty of time to get those needed shots. I like to do babies as newborns, 6 months, and then one year. Of course, I'm happy to do any in between :)
